Habibe Husain
Founder, & Chairperson, Board of Directors

Habibe Husain came to the United States for a year in 1962 as a high school foreign exchange student from Turkey. She came back to attend college in 1964 where she got her degree in Pharmacy from Temple University in Philadelphia and also met her husband. She married and chose to become a full-time mother upon the birth of her twins. She moved to the Bay Area with her family in 1973 and became a community volunteer. Habibe Husain has made many contributions to the Bay Area community, the most valuable of which has been in the service to the poor and needy through the establishment of Rahima Charitable Foundation.

Since 1993, hundreds of refugee families from Bosnia, Somalia, Afghanistan and other countries have benefited from this organization. She is a pillar of the community, a person of great integrity and inner strength. Her scrupulousness in spending public funds and the dignity with which she treats every individual are the hallmarks of her character. Habibe Husain is a mother of 3 grown children and grandmother of 4 lovely grandchildren.

Omair Farooqui, Board Member

Omair is an attorney in San Jose. He was a Vice President at Rahima for over 3 years, and was voted in as a Board member in December 2016 replacing Rabea Choudhry, who resigned due to personal family reasons.

Maresa Nirwan, Board Member

Maresa was born in Indonesia. He moved to the US to study at CSU Hayward, where he earned a BS degree in Computer Science. After graduation he worked with various start-ups in Silicon Valley. Currently he works at Adobe Inc. as Engineering Manager.

Maresa is passionate about teaching and sharing knowledge. One of his greatest satisfactions is seeing the look of joy on someone’s face when they finally understand a solution to a problem they thought was difficult.
