Eid ul Adha is a day that both marks the culmination of the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca and commemorates the sacrifice of Ibrahim (Abraham). The festival is celebrated by sacrificing an animal and distributing a share of the meat to those in need. This type of meat is referred to as “Qurbani/Udhiya meat.” Rahima Foundation takes donated Qurbani meat and distributes it to families in the San Francisco Bay Area.
We have made a list of several local halal meat butchers with whom you may place an order for the meat of your choice. We have certain requirements and guidelines for you to follow. Please read below for that information.
We CANNOT accept meat that is not cut and packaged per these guidelines:
The meat must be cut in stew sizes and packaged in 3-4 lb. bags. We do not accept larger than 4 lb. cuts of meat.
The bags must be sealed well (we recommend Ziploc bags).
We prefer you freeze the meat packages before bringing them to Rahima Foundation.
We will NOT accept tongue, head, or hoof (foot) of the animal.
We do not collect money to do the slaughtering on your behalf.
Our hours for Qurbani/Udhiya meat collection in 2019 are as follows:
